Got some gas so the shower's working. Then the electricity ran out, but we got that too so it's alright - I just hope it doesn't catch us out like that again!

The case didn't collapse, but it finished today anyway. The Jury deliberated for 40 minutes and found the client not guilty on all the charges, so he went home with his family which was great to see even though I didn't really do very much.

The only bad thing that's happened is Chelsea were awful against Middlesborough last night. I was shocked by just how bad we were, poor finishing, no marking. Hopefully we'll play properly against Blackburn this weekend and it'll be a great day in the pub :-)

Moved into the new flat yesterday. I got quite a big room at the front and the traffic didn't bother me at all last night so I think it'll be ok. We ran out of gas though. You have to top it up as you use it by taking the card across the street to the shop. Because we ran out the shower was icy cold, and having already endured a cold shave I didn't fancy it, so I went to court without a proper shower.
I was only crammed onto the tube for about 10 minutes, but it was enough to see why so many people hate it. Everyone was tired and most people only stayed standing because there was no room to fall over. One guy in particular gave me the type of vacant stare usually reserved for films about Vietnam for most of the ride. After that I got an overground train one stop to the court. That one was almost empty, nicely air-conditioned and populated by far more civilised individuals sipping coffee and reading papers. I started on a new book, The People's Act of Love which has begun in gruesome fashion. Fifteen pages in 4 horses and a man die and another man starts eating one of the horses! I didn't get much further than that before I arrived at court.
Court was good though. I'm doing another mini-pupillage. The barrister seems nice and the case doesn't look like it's about to collapse, so with any luck I'll see a full trial from start to finish.

It's been a busy few days.

Fabric on Friday was brilliant, good to see everyone again and my house was alright afterwards.

Went to Brighton on Sunday with Tay to see her brother and his girlfriend who lives down there. We got a really nice lunch in an Italian restaurant which was surprisingly cheap: 3 courses for £5.99!

The next day we went to Wales to see my Granny, but somebody crashed on the M4 and it was closed for hours. We left at 9:40 and didn't get to Penarth until about 4. It's so frustrating being stuck in traffic for that long. We only stayed for about 2 hours and then got back in the car and drove home, two and a half hours door to door, as it should have been on the way there.

The next day Tay had to go back to Northumberland. She's off to France on Saturday for almost a year. After she left I went to sign the contract for my new flat, and meet my flat-mates for the first time. They all seem pretty relaxed and the flat looks a lot better now the previous tenants have moved their heaps of crap out of it. We spent most of last night trying out the local pubs and kebab shops.

Went up to Edinburgh last week to see some of the Festival, particularly 'The Bird Flu Diaries' which Tay's brother was involved in producing, and my step-brother and sister who live up there. Had a good couple of days staying in my Dad's flat while he's working in the Czech Republic. Apparently someone has bought a new warehouse in a town called Bruno and something needs doing to their database.
Currently in Tay's house in Northumberland. We spent a couple of hours trying to get the weeds out of the village pond using a small boat, a couple of planks and a rope. It worked fairly well, but we got covered in duck shit so eventually we gave up and went home. Hopefully the ducks appreciate the space we cleared for them.
Meanwhile I've got a flat sorted out for September onwards in North London, vaguely near Finsbury Park, which I believe is famous for its Extremist-Infested Mosque. I heard recently that Abu Hamza is on appeal at the moment, so that'll liven things up round there. In addition, if Skinny Man's album is any kind of authority, I believe there is a good supply of Crack Cocaine in the area. The flat also has good public transport links and there are several takeaways nearby.
Back home again on Monday in time for The Man fitting a new floor in my room on Tuesday morning. Gripping stuff.
